Textscapades: Historical Fiction (Ages 12-14)
Overview
Maybe you’ve fallen asleep while reading a textbook… but have you ever fallen INTO one? That’s right—in this workshop, students imagine what happens when by some stroke of luck (or misfortune, depending what chapter they’re on), they fall into a moment in history! This summer creative writing workshop is an opportunity for writers to try their hand at writing historical fiction, a challenge for even the most advanced writers! We will work through the process of diving into research, discuss the common pitfalls of this genre, and explore how to use language reflective of the chosen time period.
