Overview
Spoken word is a powerful form of performance poetry that combines public speaking skills with poetic techniques. Students will be guided towards writing and performing their own spoken word poems through an 8-week workshop where they will be introduced to the world of spoken word. Contemporary in style and popular among young people, spoken word poetry often tackles current events and social issues through clever wordplay, emotive language and powerful performances. Students will not only craft their own poems but will learn how to perform them effectively, with style and impact, building their confidence as both writers and performers.
