“Lord of the Plants” by Alvin Wong, age 11
It’s fun to create a character with a super-power. The more unusual the power, the more it stands out to the reader! Can you guess what Theodore’s super-power is? This story was published in our 2011 book “Tall Tales Astonishing Acts”.
Suddenly, he heard a crack. The scaffolding gave way, and part of it came crashing down. Fortunately, Theodore had fast reflexes from playing lots of sports. He snapped his fingers at some pots of flowers outside the nearby flower shop. The flowers sprang into action, growing taller and taller. The flowers held up the bamboo poles. The bamboo poles rolled against the flowers. Some rolled past the plants and came down once again. Theodore pushed people out of the way and saved their lives.
